Window & Door Care, Maintenance & Warranty

Proper care and maintenance of your impact windows and impact doors will help protect their appearance, operation and long-term performance. Please follow these instructions throughout the life of your windows and doors and retain your project documents for reference.

1. 1-Year Limited Warranty

USA Home Improvement warrants the labor and materials supplied by USA Home Improvement and used in completing your project against covered defects for one (1) year from the project completion date, subject to the terms and limitations of your signed Home Improvement Agreement.

Manufacturer-warranted products and materials are governed by the applicable manufacturer’s warranty terms and conditions.

2. Cleaning Frames, Glass & Tracks

Clean frames with mild soap or a non-abrasive cleaner using a soft cloth or sponge.

Most over-the-counter glass cleaners may be used. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper cleaning and care.

Rinse with clean water and dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Keep window tracks, horizontal roller tracks, and sliding glass door (SGD) tracks clean and free of dirt and debris.

Keep weep holes and drainage openings clear to allow proper water drainage.

Regular vacuuming of tracks and sills is recommended.

3. Screens

Carefully remove screens before cleaning.

Wash with mild soap and water.

Rinse thoroughly and allow screens to dry before reinstalling.

Avoid excessive pressure, sharp objects, and abrasive cleaners.

4. Weatherstripping, Seals & Caulking

Periodically inspect exterior caulking for cracks, gaps, separation, chips, or shrinkage and re-caulk as necessary to help prevent water intrusion.

Regularly inspect weatherstripping and seals for wear or damage.

Clean weatherstripping with mild soap and water.

When appropriate, use a silicone-based lubricant to help maintain flexibility and prevent sticking.

Do not use solvents, petroleum-based products, or abrasive materials on weatherstripping or seals.

5. Tracks, Rollers & SGD Wheels

At least annually, apply a minimal amount of silicone spray or dry Teflon-based lubricant to applicable tracks and rollers.

Do not use WD-40 or other petroleum-based lubricants on sliding glass door wheels, tracks, or rollers. These products can attract and trap dirt and debris, which may interfere with proper operation.

6. Stucco, Painting & Exterior Finishes

Repaired or newly applied stucco surrounding your windows and doors must be properly painted and sealed to help prevent water intrusion. Stucco itself is not waterproof and should not be left unfinished.

Required interior or exterior painting and major drywall or stucco repairs are the homeowner’s responsibility unless specifically included in your contract.

7. Coastal & Salt-Air Maintenance

Homes located near the ocean or exposed to salt air require additional maintenance. Frequently rinse window and door frames and glass with fresh water at low pressure to remove accumulated salt residue.

8. Water Pressure

Do not use pressure washers or excessive water pressure on windows or doors. Water pressure should never exceed the product’s designed water-pressure rating.

Excessive pressure can force water past the product’s drainage and weather-sealing systems.

9. Please Avoid

To help prevent product damage and potential warranty issues, do not use:

Pressure/power washers

High-pressure garden hoses

Razor blades, putty knives, metallic tools, or other sharp objects

Abrasive pads or abrasive cleaners

Petroleum-based products or lubricants

Caustic cleaners or harsh solvents

Hydrochloric or phosphoric acid

Whenever possible, avoid cleaning windows and doors during extremely hot conditions.

10. Important Product & Permit Records

Please do not remove permanent manufacturer labels from your windows and doors.

Retain your permit documentation, product information, and warranty materials for future reference and for any future homeowner.

11. Service & Warranty Requests

If you notice damaged seals, drainage problems, water intrusion, difficulty operating a window or door, or believe there may be a product or workmanship issue, please contact USA Home Improvement promptly so we can evaluate the condition.

Please do not attempt repairs or modifications that could damage the product or affect applicable warranty coverage.

12. Questions or Service Assistance?

Please contact USA Home Improvement if you have questions regarding the proper care and maintenance of your windows or doors.
